Test tube/in vitro fertilization (IVF)

There has much been storied in the media about test tube baby's it seems to be a common practice of today's society.
It is hard to be leave that IVF was first used in 1978.
Indeed IVF today is done very regular and already thousands of baby's are already born with IVF.
The treatment however is psychologically very difficult, only one of five cases leads to pregnancy.
With this method fertilization's happens outside the body (in vitro).
The medical name of test tube fertilization is called in-vitrofertilization (in short IVF).
The treatment starts with stimulating the ovary with hormones
The ovary will develop four to six eggs instead of normally one.
The development of the eggs is followed with echography.
As soon as the eggs are removed from the vagina under local anesthetics with a special needle
The eggs are kept several hours in a special liquid.
In the mean time the sperm of the man is treated so the doctor can select the best quality seed
In a laboratory these seeds are brought together with the woman eggs and fertilization takes place
After two to three days the eggs are replanted in the womb.
The next face is the most nerve taking because most failure happens in this period.
The change of success also depends on how much eggs are replanted but also the change for multiple pregnancy.
Four and five baby's with IVF are no exception.
Although parents are very happy with this it gives a heavy burden on the family.
To prevent multiple pregnancy today not more then two to four eggs are replanted.
